How to Find Design Schools
The field of design is a wide one comprised of many different types of design including graphic design, interior design, fashion design, art and design, and much more. Finding design schools can be difficult unless you know the specific field area that you want to enter. Choosing from the many design schools can be troublesome for those who aren't sure what kind of information to search. To avoid the temptation to choose a career based on the available design schools, make certain you know the type of design you wish to study before you begin research any schools.
Once you know the type of design that you wish to study, you may begin your research on design schools. Keep in mind that some fields may overlap others, so be cognizant of the information you have before you so that you know which design schools offer the curriculum for the field of design that interests you. Do not make your decision based upon your findings about one school, but rather research several design schools before you decide which one best fits your needs and your budget.
Even if you find that one of the design schools is close to your home and you decide to visit in person, you should still take the time to make inquiries of other design schools just to assure yourself you have made the right choice. You may want to base your decision on more than physical location—the closest school may not necessarily be the best one. It is also not a good practice to base your decision upon limited information as in that obtained by researching less than five design schools. Remember, this is your future that you are considering. Take some extra time to weigh your options before you make a decision.
