Websites are no longer just pages of text with nothing to draw people in to view the content. With today's software, a graphic artist can create images for web pages that will draw people in and increase traffic because they can now create pages that grab people's attention. By attending school and obtaining a degree in graphic art, you may have the opportunity for steady work as a freelance graphic artist or working with web designers to create attention-grabbing web pages for clients.
Graphic artists can do many things with web pages, but that is not the total extent of their expertise. In addition to web pages, they can create images for other things as well such as ecards, ebooks, email, and much more.
One thing to keep in mind if you want to become a graphic artist is that things change rather quickly, so you have to be willing to keep up on the latest trends. We moved from websites that were unexciting to those with graphics, lights, animation and interactive content. In order to stay competitive as a graphic artist, you may need to stay informed about the latest trends and be able to update your education when necessary.
